Mr Hallett and Miss Lomas welcome you to 6AH! We are now in year 6 and working extremely hard to prepare ourselves for the SAT's tests. We won't be just concentrating on English and Mathematics though, we will also be learning about lots of other different topics throughout the year.
We are pleased to announce that we now also have our own brand new Media Hub, where we will be learning in different ways while having fun. You will be able to see all of the fantastic work we do in it if you keep logging onto our class page regularly.
This half term we will be focussing on the book 'The Spider and the Fly' by Mary Howitt. We will be exploring this text while completing a range of writing tasks alongside it. This book will also link into our Science of living things and their habitats.
In Maths, we are furthering our development and confidence in the 4 operations as well as trying to solve multi-step word problems. We will also be revisiting previous areas throughout last term such as fractions, decimals, percentages and shape each week in our arithmetic lessons.
While we are reading our class book 'The Spider and the Fly, we will be looking into how living things are classified according to common observable characteristics and giving reasons for classifying plants and animals based on specific characteristics while working scientifically.
This half term, we will be doing Dance. PE is on a Tuesday afternoon so please ensure your child has their full PE kit in (white or red top, black shorts and black pumps).
Over the course of this half term, we will be developing our presentation skills, using PowerPoint/Keynote during our computing lessons.
Children are encouraged to read 1 chapter each day of their reading book. Books will be changed upon completion.
Homework is handed out every Friday and must be completed and handed in the following Wednesday.
