Jubilee Cup Football Tournament

On Tuesday 15th October, Shadsworth juniors football team travelled to St. Bedes high school for the Jubilee Shield qualifying night and we topped the group without losing a game or conceding a goal!

In our group were: Lower Darwen, Feniscowles and St Anthony's.

The first game was the toughest game we would play in our group against Feniscowles but Shadsworth came away with a 1-0 win thanks to a Curtis Poole goal. Shadsworth had been the dominant side throughout the game but couldn't score! We finally broke the deadlock with 5 minutes to go.

In the second game we came up against our bogey team Lower Darwen but this time we beat them with ease, A 3-0 victory! Goals from Poole (x2) and Lee, We started to relax and get the ball down to play the football that we do.

With the finals in sight we went out into our last game fired up and a 3-0 victory over St Anthony's saw us through to the finals! The highlight of the game being Dominic Poole receiving the ball on the edge of his own box, taking every player on and slotting it past the St Anthony's goalkeeper.

Mr Ripley and Miss Candler were so impressed with the work rate and quality of football shown by the team! We had many comments from other schools saying how impressed they were!
