Shadsworth Junior School is a friendly, happy, hard working junior school, with lots going on!. Children join us in Year 3 when they are 7 years old and stay with us until the end of Year 6 when they move on to High School. We admit 60 pupils in each year group and this is split into two classes of 30 pupils.
Children are all taught in single age classes - we do not have mixed age classes. We also have two small Oasis Rooms which are a nurture facility for pupils who need extra social and emotional support during their time with us.
As children move through the school we are committed to providing the highest standard of teaching and learning experiences which not only develop the pupil's knowledge and skills but also finds opportunities for them to excel e.g. reading, maths, art, music and sport. We treat each and every child with respect and actively model how we expect the children to behave. We aim to build confident, resilient children with a love of life and learning. We work together, support each other in time of need and challenge each other to be the very best that we can be.
At Shadsworth Junior School we offer a learning challenge curriculum that concentrates on developing the basic skills in reading, writing and maths and then find as many opportunities as possible to develop them in a cross curricular way through the curriculum. We also understand that some pupils need more support to help them achieve and we offer a specialist Forest Room which runs interventions for more able pupils and those requiring catch up programmes. This resource is overseen by our SENCo. The Forest Room was recognised when we achieved National Flagship Status for Inclusion.
Our school is situated at the top end of Shadsworth estate and the surrounding area and serves a supportive community with very close links to Shadsworth Infant School which is at the lower end of Shadsworth Estate. We run a breakfast club each morning and offer a wide range of after school clubs during the school year. We also get involved in local sporting, music and art competitions and initiatives.
We are committed to working in partnership with parents and carers, it is our firm belief that this gives our pupils the very best chance in life. We value parents and carers and offer opportunities for them to be involved in school life as well as offering a range of family support if required during their time here.
Our whole staff are talented, enthusiastic and fully committed to the pupils at Shadsworth Junior School - they go the extra mile each day!
At Shadsworth Junior School we strive to provide a warm, welcoming, friendly, safe and family orientated supportive environment for children, staff, parents and visitors alike.
