    INTENT

Our music curriculum intends to inspire creativity and self-expression.  We foster a love of music by exposing them to diverse musical experiences. We do this using the 4 areas:

    listen - perform -  compose - sing.

    • We bring our school community together by sharing the experience of regular, high-quality singing opportunities.
    • We develop our vocal technique and performance by finding regular opportunities to sing to an audience.
    • Children use a variety of tuned and un-tuned instruments to improvise, compose, and play music whilst taking part in a whole-class instrumental lesson for at least one term per year, with a specialist instrumental teacher.
    • We foster an appreciation for a wide range of musical styles and genres

    IMPLEMENTATION

    IMPACT

           Music is assessed as follows:

    • Opportunities to perform, compose, and listen and be able to express themselves musically at and beyond school.
    • Observations of pupils appreciation and respect for a wide range of musical styles from around the world
    • Opportunities to discuss their understanding of how music is influenced by the wider cultural, social, and historical contexts in which it is developed.
    • Observing ways they find to record their work and observing performing and composing activities
    • Recordings of live musical performances
    • Meet the end of key stage expectations outlined in the National Curriculum for Music.
