Class 5J

Welcome to Year 5

In 5J our class teacher is Miss Jolliffe and our teaching assistants are Mrs Parker, Miss Mcauley and Mrs  Peel.  We hope you have all had a great summer, and you are fresh and ready to start your year 5 learning journey.

Homework

Our homework is set at the start of every half term and we will be checking these every Thursday. The activities can be completed in any order and at any time over the half term and we would like to see at least one activity completed per week. A copy of the homework grid for the half term can be found inside your homework book. There will be a range of activities that are linked to the topics covered in class this half term. You will be rewarded for any homework activities that are completed and returned on time. Please let me know (Miss Jolliffe) if you have any problems completing your homework.

LBQ

An LBQ task is set in the evening: Monday- Thursday, to be completed before 9pm.

Home Reading

You will be given a reading book to take home. Please aim to read at least 3 times a week and ask an adult to sign your reading record to show us what you have done. Reading records will be checked every Thursday, alongside homework books. They will be changed once you have completely read your book but please let a teacher know when you need to change your book.  Please try to bring your book to school every day so that we can listen to you read in school.

If you want to do some additional learning at home, you will be given passwords for Purple Mash, Lbq, Timetable Rockstars, and Spelling Shed. You can do as much practice as you like on here and earn points and rewards as you go.

PE

5J PE days are Tuesdays and Fridays. Children can bring in their PE kits with:  black shorts, white P.E. top and trainers on these days or to keep in school to get changed. Please can you make sure children have the correct P.E. kit for their PE. day.

Music

This half term, we have music with Mr Brown, doing SAMBA drums, so if any child has ear defenders and wishes to bring them in for these sessions then that is absolutely okay with us.
