Year 3 Cushions
Year 3 took on a fun and hands on DT project—designing and sewing our own cushions! We started by learning how to do a running stitch using binca, which helped us practise our sewing skills and get used to handling a needle and thread safely.
Next, we focused on our target audience: children. We thought carefully about what kinds of colours, shapes, and patterns would be exciting, fun, and appealing to younger children. From bright colours to bold, playful designs, every detail was chosen with them in mind!
We also created our own success criteria, helping us stay focused on what we needed to do to make our cushion aesthetically pleasing: neat stitching, strong construction, and a design that children would love. Once our designs were finalised, we cut, stitched, and stuffed our cushions, watching our ideas come to life!
The final results were fantastic—soft, colourful, and full of personality. Our cushions weren’t just great to look at—they were made with care, purpose, and creativity, perfect for children to enjoy!
