Year 4 Adapting a Recipe
Year 4 have been busy evaluating, improving and baking biscuits. The children had lots of fun taste testing a range of biscuits before filling in a research grid and commenting on the taste, smell, texture, appearance and packaging for each one.
The children then followed a simple recipe to bake their own plain biscuit. It was lovely to see the children working together as a team to ensure that their ingredients were measured accurately.
The children then designed their own biscuits. They had to think carefully about their target audience, our budget and adaptation of our basic biscuit recipe. The children then worked in groups again to mix a plain biscuit dough. The dough was then split between each group and the fun began! Each child adapted their plain biscuit using a variety of different ingredients such as chocolate chips, ginger, raisins, marshmallows and coconut.
The children were all very proud of their finished biscuits. They then designed and made packaging for their biscuits thinking carefully about their target audience.
