Class 6C

WELCOME TO 6C!

In our class this year is Miss Coulton and supporting your learning is Mrs Bowker. We love learning in lots of different, engaging ways within our classroom and ensuring all children feel part of our class family! smiley

Homework: Our homework is set at the start of every half term and will be collected in on the last week. The activities can be completed in any order and at any time over the half term. You can find a copy of the homework grid for this half term by clicking on the star above. Additionally, there is a copy inside your homework book. There will be a range of activities that are linked to the topics covered in class.

LbQ questions and codes will be set at the end of the day, Monday-Thursday.

Home reading: You will be given a reading book to take home. Please aim to read at least three times a week and ask an adult to sign your reading record after each time so we can see what you have done. Reading books will be changed twice a week or as needed.

PE: PE is every Thursday! We will be getting changed for PE this year so please make sure you have your PE kit in school. This includes black tracksuit bottoms, a white top, a school jumper and black pumps or trainers. This half term our topic is gymnastics.

English: This half term we will be focusing on 'There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom!' by Louis Sachar. We will be reading the text and making our own predictions based on a range of evidence, exploring the main characters through activities such as hot seating before writing a our own texts using the different strategies and techniques that we have learnt.

Maths: We're going to focus on our number skills and applying them to different problem solving and investigative activities.

Science: This autumn, children will be discovering the circulatory system and how the body needs it to survive! We will be learning and gaining an in depth understanding through lots of practical activities and experiments.

Geography: Our topic for this half term is all about volcanoes and earthquakes. Children will explore how volcanoes are created, where/why they are found in certain parts of the world and how tectonic plates affect both volcanoes and earthquakes!

Music: We are very lucky to be continuing to learn samba with Samba Steve this half term! It will be very fun and very loud!

Computing: Children will be building on their skills from previous years whilst developing games within scratch. In E safety, 6C will explore safe websites and how to use technology safely.

PHSCE: We will be teaching the PHSCE curriculum through Jigsaw. This half term our topic is 'All about me!'

RE, Art & DT: You will be developing your skills and understanding of these subjects with Mrs Toner on a Thursday morning!
